Shorena Mzhavanadze is the Financial / Tax Manager at MKD Law, having joined the firm in 2003. Since 2009, she has focused her practice on tax law and project finance. Ms. Mzhavanadze advises both local and international clients on a broad range of tax matters, including tax planning, VAT, customs, and regulatory compliance, particularly in complex cross-border transactions and infrastructure projects.

Her notable experience includes advising Alikarnassos Hotel Touristic Societe Anonyme (Greece) on legal and tax matters related to the auction of the “Sheraton Metechi Palace”; assisting APCO Worldwide and JTI Caucasus on tax, VAT, customs, advertising, and tobacco product regulation; and providing legal support to BP in connection with regulatory, tax, and customs aspects of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Pipeline and the South Caucasus Pipeline (Shah Deniz) projects.

Ms. Mzhavanadze has also advised a number of major international corporations, including Perdue Farms Incorporated, Procter & Gamble, GlaxoSmithKline, ConocoPhillips BTC, Capital Turbines Australia, Meydan Group, Nokia Corporation, QSI International School, and Norbert Schaller GESMBH on various tax law and customs matters.

Ms. Mzhavanadze holds an Honors Diploma in Finance and Banking from Tbilisi State University (1999) and a Master’s degree from the same institution (2003). She also completed a Business English course at English College London (2004).

She is fluent in Georgian, Russian, and English.
