“MKD Law” Successfully Concludes the Rehabilitation of Medical Clinic “Unicalmedi” (led by Managing Partner Archil Kbilashvili).

“Unicalmedi” is a multi-profile healthcare institution providing a wide range of medical services and employing nearly 300 people.

Due to financial difficulties, the clinic was unable to meet its overdue obligations, with debts amounting to several million GEL. Furthermore, following a creditor’s claim, a court decision required the auction sale of the clinic’s assets. This would have inevitably resulted in the clinic’s bankruptcy and closure.

To prevent this outcome, with the assistance of MKD Law, the clinic applied to the Kutaisi City Court to initiate rehabilitation proceedings. On 13 February 2025, the court granted the request, placing the clinic under rehabilitation.

During this process, with MKD Law’s support, a rehabilitation plan was developed, envisaging the installment-based repayment of outstanding debts.

Through close collaboration with the clinic’s creditors, MKD Law achieved unanimous support for the rehabilitation plan from all secured creditors, and 72% approval from unsecured creditors. This level of creditor support met the legal requirements, and on 9 September 2025 the Kutaisi City Court approved the rehabilitation plan and terminated insolvency proceedings.

As a result, the clinic now has the ability to cover its ongoing expenses and future development with its revenues, while also gradually repaying past debts on an equal and proportional basis.

The successful rehabilitation not only improved the quality of medical services at the clinic but also preserved hundreds of jobs for its employees.

“Unicalmedi” is among the first medical institutions in Georgia to undergo a successful rehabilitation within insolvency proceedings.
