The conference brought together prominent Japanese and Georgian companies such as the Mitsubishi Corporation, Ricoh, Toshiba, JTI, Panasonic, Toyota Caucasus, NEC Telecommunication and Information Technologies, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Georgia-Japan PeerInvesat, Marubeni Corporation, Itochu Corporation, NYK Group, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, JSC Anaklia City, Georgian Airways Ltd, Basalt Fibers Ltd and others.
Having welcomed the conference’s participants, Mr Tadaharu Uehara, Japan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia, and Mr Victor Kipiani, an MKD Partner, underlined the importance of the need to develop economic ties between Japan and Georgia, showcasing the latter as a favourable destination for Japanese investments. Subsequent speakers included, among others, Mr Mikheil Janelidze, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Ms Keti Bochorishvili, the CEO of ‘Anaklia City’.
Those present at the conference shared their experiences of practical aspects of doing business in Georgia as well as their opinion of the untapped investment potential that Georgia offers. Given its success, the conference’s organizers pledged to hold similar events on a regular basis, and expressed the hope that these could be given an appropriate institutional framework.
